Brutal Fruit Spritzer launched something exciting this weekend. They revealed their new L'Orange Rossa flavor at Villa Rossa in Johannesburg, and it was quite the party.
Zola Nombona hosted the event, bringing together South Africa's top tastemakers like Ayanda G Thabethe, Buhle Samuels, Kayise Ngqula, and others. The afternoon was all about connection, style, and celebration.
I spoke with Candice Van Den Bosch, Brand Director for Brutal Fruit Spritzer, about their latest flavor. Here's what she told me:
THABO: What's the story behind this campaign?
CANDICE: The whole idea is to take consumers behind the scenes of the Brutal Fruit world. We want to create a feeling and expression that we can actually bottle up, so people make incredible memories while enjoying our latest Spritzer.
L'Orange Rossa represents living indulgently without making any apologies for it. It's our tribute to how women come together - those long lunches, girls' trips, conversations that go on forever, and those spontaneous moments where real memories and connections happen.
THABO: How does this fit into your brand's bigger picture?
CANDICE: This is honestly a bold new chapter for us. We're riding the wave of citrus-based drinks becoming huge globally, plus tapping into that sophisticated "aperitivo" culture. L'Orange Rossa is world-class - it's got this amazing fusion of zesty orange and crisp apple that's perfectly balanced and incredibly refreshing.
This extends our current lineup without replacing anything. Our traditional fruit Spritzer isn't going anywhere - people still love it. But L'Orange Rossa is more of a premium option. We've moved away from our traditional pink collection to fresh orange, white, and green colors that give you a completely different vibe.
THABO: Where do you see the brand heading in the next few years?
CANDICE: Our strategy has always put consumers first. We've been around for 24 years, and we're still led by what our customers want. How we evolve depends entirely on what our customers appreciate. We're all about inclusivity, not exclusivity.
THABO: What experience do you want people to take away from this event?
CANDICE: We want our guests to walk away with real moments - those connections where women truly unwind and celebrate each other. The kind of moment you settle into and don't rush. The kind you don't post about - you just live it.
L'Orange Rossa is for the woman who's sophisticated, yes, but also just a little more brutal. It celebrates how women gather - long lunches, girls' trips, lingering conversations, and spontaneous moments where memories and connections are made.
At its core, L'Orange Rossa is about living playfully, indulgently, and just a little unexpectedly.
After its debut at Villa Rossa, Brutal Fruit Spritzer L'Orange Rossa will be available nationwide starting March 2026, inviting South Africans everywhere to embrace #TheRossaLife.
